An important part of planning your wedding
is sharing your good news with family and friends. Announcing
your engagement and wedding in your local newspaper is a big
part of sharing that good news.
The Grand Island Independent prints engagement
and wedding announcements starting at $15. Below you will
find the forms you need to get your announcements printed
in The Independent. Please contact classifieds at 308-382-1000

Engagements
An Engagement Announcement Form must be submitted to The Independent
in order for your announcement and photo to appear in the
newspaper.
Completed
engagement forms should be submitted to The Independent office
preferably no later than four weeks before the wedding date.
Every effort will be made to publish announcements received
after that deadline, but publication cannot be guaranteed.
A photo will be published with the engagement announcement.
Weddings
A Wedding Announcement Form must be completed after the ceremony
takes place. A photo of either the bride alone or both the
bride and groom will also be published with your wedding announcement.
Information
should be received at The Independent office preferably within
two months of the date of the ceremony in order to be published.
If you have a copy of the wedding program, please include
it when submitting the form.
Photos
Black and white glossy photos are preferred, but color photos
will also be accepted (to be printed in black and white).
Faces in the original photo should be at least the size of
a quarter. If you wish for your photo to be returned, enclose
a self-addressed, stamped envelope or the photo will be available
at The Independent (422 West 1st Street, Grand Island) after
the announcement has appeared in the newspaper. If your photo
was taken by a professional photographer, a Photographer's
Release Form must be submitted in order for the photo
to be printed with the announcement.
Deadlines
Announcements are printed each Sunday in the newspaper. The
weekly deadline for Sunday publication is 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
On occasion, space limitations may cause some wedding and
engagement announcements to be held until the next week. If
the deadline is approaching and you anticipate a problem meeting
that deadline, you should contact classifieds at 308-382-1000
to discuss the problem.
Forms
The printable forms have been designed to obtain specific
information so the article is accurate. For that reason, please
submit only forms from The Independent. When completing the
forms, please print legibly or type.
Completed
forms may be:
