Classic Hairstyles
Your wedding-day hairstyle should flatter your face and still
be within your overall look. When
selecting your style, consider all the elements: your
headpiece, your
veil, your
dress, and your
height.
Upswept
styles have been the favorite among brides because of their
elegance, versatility and low maintenance. Consider letting
a few tendrils loose around your face and neck to soften the
effect of an upsweep if it's not so much your style. Try to
incorporate your bangs (if you have them) and your usual part
- side or center - to look your best.
You
should meet with your stylist at least one month in advance
of the wedding. Take your veil, headpiece, earrings, a photo
of your gown and photos of hairstyles you like. Once the two
of you have found the style that works, take some pictures
from different angles to use as reference when styling on
your special day.
Manicures
and Pedicures
You'll
want to look your very best on your wedding day . . . all
the way out to your fingers and toes! Start visiting a salon
for a bi-weekly manicure and pedicure. The consensus for wedding-day
fingernails is pale shades. The trend has turned to pink washes,
white washes, pale-pastel shimmers or the traditional French
manicure. A bride with sandal or open-toe shoes is urged to
match her toenails to her fingernails.
Skin
Care
At
least one month before the big day, the bride should visit
with a consultant to begin a skin care regimen appropriate
for her skin type. Five steps to follow for a healthy complexion
include cleansing, exfoliating, freshening, moisturizing and
finishing with just the right shade of foundation.
The
bride should stick to neutral tones for a natural look, while
intensifying the color on her eyes and lips. Sunlight, as
well as the photographer's flash will wash out any face; therefore,
more color than normal should be used to play up eyes and
lips. And don't forget the waterproof mascara for anyone prone
to tears.
