Photographer & Videographer

Photographer & Videographer

If you want breathtaking wedding photos and a tearjerker video, you will want to hire a phenomenal photographer and videographer.

How do you find them?

  • Ask for suggestions from friends with fantastic wedding pictures.
  • Get recommendations from caterers, florists and consultants.
  • Check out our local directory online, or read the wedding section in The Grand Island Independent on Sundays.

When you have two or three potential photographers, arrange a time to meet with them and ask the following interview questions:

  • How long have you been in business?
  • Can I see your portfolio?
  • Is your equipment capable of shooting in any light available?
  • Do you do negative retouching?
  • What package plans are available?
  • How much are reprints?
  • What are the delivery dates for prints?
  • What is the cost?
  • Is there a travel cost?
  • Is a deposit required? How much is it? When must it be paid? When is the balance due?
  • Will a protective spray be included on the photographs?
  • How many photographs will be taken?
  • What sizes of prints are offered?
  • Is there a minimum order of photographs required?
  • What album styles are available?
  • How long will you stay at the wedding ceremony and reception?

Once you've narrowed your videographer list to two or three, set up a time to meet and ask them the following:

  • How many weddings have you shot?
  • Do you use industrial grade equipment? The answer you're looking for is "yes".
  • Do you use "stringers" or "tapers"? A stringer or taper is a camera operator hired on a part-time basis. If the answer is "yes", ask to meet the person and view their demo tape.
  • What is the cost?
  • Is editing included in the price?
  • Do you use special effects?
  • Do you or would you use a "shooting script"? Provide the videographer with the scenes you want included in the video.
  • How will you dress?
